Simon Chamakala from Carrollton, Dallas – Texas received the 2023 Leadership Award from the City of Carrollton at the 15th Annual Citizens Evening event on March 29,2023. Each year, the city of Carrollton Neighborhood Partnership Office recognizes individuals, organizations and civic leaders who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to community service in the area. The award was presented to Simon Chamakala by Carrollton Mayor Steve Babick.For the awards dinner with 500 guests, Simon was accompanied by his wife Jomini, Children’s – Teresa age 11, Isaac – age 10 and Serena – age 6 along with his cousin Mitzi and brother in-law Shoney.
Mr. Simon Chamakala has been named the recipient for the neighborhood leadership award, which honors those who have taken a proactive role in addressing the needs of their fellow citizens. Simon has demonstrated great leadership and commitment to the City of Carrollton, being a part of the Mayor’s Advisory Council, Fundraising Director of the Carrollton – Farmers Branch Rotary Club and Assistant Den Leader for the Cub Scouts. Simon has also organized many events for the organization. Sustained by a deep faith, Mr. Simon Chamakala is a member at Christ the King Knanaya Catholic Church, Farmers Branch, an Indian community-based church in Farmers-Branch. He has played an instrumental role in the church’s various activities and fundraising events and under his able leadership, the church ministries have contributed thousands of dollars to provide residence of southern India, with Medical, Housing and Educational support.
Through his tireless efforts, Simon Chamakala has contributed immeasurably to the quality of life in his community, and he has set an inspiring example of civic engagement; now, therefore be it. Simon is a Registered Nurse and currently work as a Group Facility Administrator for DaVita Health Care System, he manages over multiple clinics in Dallas metroplex and mentor’s over 125 employees in the Dallas Fort-worth area. Simon truly believes that his leadership experience can do a lot more for the betterment and growth of our community.
